the double layered leather hook belt has been hand cut from a sturdy washed and tumbled 3.5mm vegetable tanned horse culatta leather with an iron dye treatment that has been brewing in the atelier for 24 months and reacts with the leathers tannins to create an array of blue, black and grey nuances.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper.
vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish. the leather belt features a large hand forged iron hook for the fastening with an ash matte black finish.
a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed japanese linen thread has been used to connect the two deconstructed panels and double layers, sewn without the use of machines.
