the re-usable leather journal cover has been meticulously hand cut and sewn from a butter soft full grain washed 1.2mm vegetable tanned culatta. the leather offers a sporadic fiber structure with an array of textures and scarring which are highlighted throughout the piece. the leather has been finished with our signature iron solution which has been brewing in the atelier for 18 months, creating rich grey nuances.
a hand forged iron shank closure to the front will rust with use over time and react with the leather creating a stronger iron dye around the shank holder. the double faced leather journal cover has been stitched with a 0.65mm grey hand waxed japanese linen thread utilising the running stitch.
each journal cover comes with 40 usuable hand sewn pages of handmade khadi paper crafted from 100% long fibered cotton rag. each page is 150gsm, acid free, with a medium surface and a deckle edge.
the journals are suitable for watercolour and all painting, drawing and writing media. every journal comes in a handmade leather pouch.
