the re-usable leather journal cover has been meticulously hand cut and sewn from a butter soft full grain 2.5mm vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled horse culatta leather with a visible layer of subdermal cordovan.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
a hand forged custom .925 sterling silver buckle forms the closure to the front allowing you to adjust the tightness. the journal cover is available in a rotten corpse black or a custom colour combination using water based dyes as pictured.
each journal cover comes with 40 usuable hand sewn pages of handmade khadi paper crafted from 100% long fibered cotton rag. each page is 150gsm, acid free, with a medium surface and a deckle edge.
the journals are suitable for watercolour and all painting, drawing and writing media. every journal comes in a handmade leather pouch.
each piece comes in a hand made leather package.
