the wet moulded abstract leather tray has been cut from a full grain 3.2mm vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled horse culatta leather with an aniline rotten corpse matte black dye treatment.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
crafted from a single piece of leather, the tray has been wet moulded over a 24hour period using a small anvil to shape the base and clipping the sides to form the folded abstract silhouette. strategically placed stitches add a little structure to the shape, and the unlined interior has been lightly waxed for durability.
the small leather tray is suitable for holding rings, coins and keys.
each piece comes in a hand made leather package.
