the wet moulded abstract leather tray has been cut from a full grain 3.2mm vegetable tanned, washed and barrel tumbled tuscan horse culatta leather with our signature blood red dye treatment using a combination of an 18 month brewed iron dye base and a water based deep red top coat.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
crafted from a single piece of leather, the tray has been wet moulded over a 24hour period to form the base and shape the abstract silhouette. strategically placed stitches add a little structure to the shape, and the unlined interior has been lightly waxed for durability.
the small leather tray is suitable for holding rings, coins and keys.
