hand dyed culatta leather wallet

a compact geometric wallet with a refined finish. hand cut from an incredibly soft 1.2mm vegetable tanned horse culatta, with a sporadic fiber structure the leather is packed full of an array of textures, tonal nuances and scarring. the leather has been finished with a 7 second soak in cold sea water and metal debris from ships that has been brewing in the atelier for 6 months. the particles in the solution react with the leather tannins creating a unique colouration. a layer of oil is applied to maintain the suppleness of the leather which is then sealed with a beeswax top coat.

the bifold wallet features a single piece pattern construction which is sewn entirely by hand, using hand waxed linen thread from meisi. the compact wallet can hold up to 8 cards as well as a stack of notes in the large note compartment. the wallet is accompanied with a handmade leather pouch.

applying protective cream:
- apply a thin coat of the cream on a soft and clean cotton cloth
- spread it evenly in a circular motion over the surface of the leather
- if the leather is extremely dry – repeat the process up to two times within four hours
- the protective cream provides a shine and also gently darkens the leather
- do not apply the cream directly on the leather
