the cardholder has been hand cut from a butter soft full grain washed and tumbled 1.3mm vegetable tanned albino horse culatta leather. culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
the portrait cardholder features an open stitch construction to the center which allows for additional movement when it is overloaded with cards. overlocked stitching to the sides using hand waxed 0.65mm japanese linen thread locks together the three card slots which can hold up to 12 cards as well as folded notes.
the leather has been finished with a cold object dye treatment using a mixture of slate and rust offering an array of tonal details. a layer of waterproof liquid is applied to seal the dye and provide additional protection
each piece comes in a handmade leather pouch.
