the card case has been hand cut from a butter soft full grain washed and tumbled 2.6mm vegetable tanned natural reversed horse culatta leather with a visible layer of subdermal cordovan. culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal and robust finish.
crafted from a single piece pattern without the use of machines, the cardholder features three compartments, two card pockets to the rear and a large single pocket to the front with the ability to hold up to 16 cards in the portrait orientation, as well as folded notes. a hand waxed 0.65mm japanese linen thread has been used for the overlocked sides and the open seam construction to the rear interior pocket.
the leather has undergone multiple layers of a water based dye to create an array of rich red nuances.
a custom raw .925 sterling silver buckle closure to the front is fastened with a wrap around strap that has a space at the rear to attach to a belt loop or bag strap.
each piece comes in a handmade leather pouch.
