the bifold wallet has been hand cut from a butter soft 1.6mm vegetable tanned natural horse culatta leather. culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal and robust finish.
crafted entirely by hand without the use of machines in a double layered single piece pattern, the wallet features two landscape card slits allowing you to hold up to 8 cards as well as an array of notes in the compartment behind the card slots. a hand waxed 0.65mm tonal japanese linen thread has been used for the construction.
the leather features a 24 hour cold object dye treatment in a solution of slate to create an array of grey nuances against the natural tan colour of the leather.
each piece comes in a handmade leather pouch.
