the double layered absinthe belt has been hand cut from a washed and tumbled 3mm vegetable tanned horse culatta leather with our absinthe dyed finish. built up over multiple layers using an iron dye solution brewed in the atelier for 18 months and a water based green pigment for the top coat.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper.
vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
the leather belt features a hand forged solid bronze buckle with an intense heat treatment finish. the buckle is formed from pieces of 5mm bronze rods, bent and hammered into place. The double layering of leather ensures the belt is robust, with a smooth surface sitting against your clothes.
tonal 0.65mm hand waxed japanese linen thread has been used to connect the two deconstructed panels and the double layers, which are sewn without the use of machines over an 8 hour period.
each piece comes in a handmade leather pouch.
