the gorget draws inspiration from 14th century armour that protected the throat or gorge, and can be worn over a jacket or tucked inside to extend the collar.
the scarf has been hand cut from a butter soft full grain washed and tumbled 1.4mm vegetable tanned horse culatta leather, and finished with an iron dye, that has been brewing in the atelier for 18 months. a meticulous selection of cuts, showcase and highlight the natural grain of the leather.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal and robust finish.
hand crafted over a 30 hour period without the use of machines, the leather collar has been hand sewn with a tonal hand waxed 0.65mm japanese linen thread. an open seam construction forms the two side panels and triple dart details to the rear add structure.
a full length riri m6 zipper to the front sits alongside a riri m4 half zipper providing different styling options. both zippers are adorned with a custom 10 hour slow oxidised .925 sterling silver zipper pull.
a large flap pocket to the interior can accommodate a smart phone and features our signature branding.
