the open seam leather shoulder bag can be worn on the shoulder, across the body or in hand and has been cut from a supple full grain 2.7mm vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled horse culatta leather, with an incredible array of texture, and a flat matte rotten corpse black dye treatment.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper.
vegetable tanned leather is an ancient artisanal process that hinges on the delicate balance between timing and temperature. like a fine aged whiskey time is key, the careful balance of time allows the natural tannins such as tree bark to infuse, yielding rich colours and unparalleled durability. controlled cooling plays a crucial role in achieving that coveted texture and suppleness you come to expect.
crafted from a split pattern construction the bag features an open seam construction running through the center of the bag with a tonal leather backing. hammered flat seams are visible to the interior, hand sewn with our signature overlock stitch in a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed Japanese linen thread over a 40 hour period (size medium) without the use of machines. the top panel has been triple stitched to secure the two way riri zipper adorned with solid .925 sterling silver zipper pulls slow oxidised over a 10 hour period.
the unlined interior features multiple patch pockets to accommodate a multitude of small accessories.
a double layered triple section deconstructed strap is triple stitched by hand and slides through double hand forged iron rings for easy adjustment.
each piece comes in a hand made leather package.
