rust dyed transparent horse leather wedge cardholder

this iteration of the wedge cardholder has been hand cut from a 0.9mm transparent horse leather offering a parchment type texture with a tight grain structure.

born from the intention of reducing waste from the off cuts in the atelier, the cardholder features 5 compartments with the ability to hold up to 16 cards as well as folded notes.

the leather has been soaked for 24 hours in an iron solution that has been brewing in the atelier for 18 months and drip dried to create an array of rich rust nuances. a hand waxed 0.65mm japanese linen thread has been used for the overlocked sides forming the pockets.

each piece comes in a handmade leather pouch.

- do keep away from direct sunlight to preserve colour

applying protective cream:
- apply a thin coat of the cream on a soft and clean cotton cloth
- spread it evenly in a circular motion over the surface of the leather
- if the leather is extremely dry – repeat the process up to two times within four hours
- the protective cream provides a shine and also gently darkens the leather
- do not apply the cream directly on the leather
