the open seam long leather gloves, have been cut from a butter soft full grain 2mm vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled culatta leather, with a rotten corpse flat matte black dye treatment. each panel has been meticulously selected to showcase and highlight the natural grain of the leather.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper.
vegetable tanned leather is an ancient artisanal process that hinges on the delicate balance between timing and temperature. like a fine aged whiskey time is key, the careful balance of time allows the natural tannins such as tree bark to infuse, yielding rich colours and unparalleled durability. controlled cooling plays a crucial role in achieving that coveted texture and suppleness you come to expect.
crafted with a multiple piece pattern the gloves feature deconstructed panels with an open seam construction allowing for greater freedom of movement. each of the 1868 stitch holes have been individually spaced and punched by hand, with each stitch meticulously implemented in a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed japanese linen thread over a 40 hour period without the use of machines.
the gloves feature a floating lining in a raw cut stone washed black ramie linen. wet moulded on the hand over an 8 hour period the gloves deliver a sculptured aesthetic.
each piece comes in a hand made leather package.
