the open seam leather gloves, have been cut from a supple full grain 2.7mm vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled cordovan leather, with an incredible array of texture, a waxy pull up and a rotten corpse flat matte black dye treatment.
vegetable tanned leather is an ancient artisanal process that hinges on the delicate balance between timing and temperature. like a fine aged whiskey time is key, the careful balance of time allows the natural tannins such as tree bark to infuse, yielding rich colours and unparalleled durability. controlled cooling plays a crucial role in achieving that coveted texture and suppleness you come to expect.
crafted with a multiple piece pattern the gloves feature deconstructed panels with an open seam construction allowing for greater freedom of movement. each of the 1668 stitch holes have been individually spaced and punched by hand, with each stitch meticulously implemented in a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed japanese linen thread over a 35 hour period without the use of machines.
the gloves feature a floating lining in a raw cut stone washed black ramie linen. the gloves are adorned with a hand forged .999 sterling silver button with a 10 hour slow oxidised finish, mimicking the textured landscape of the leather. wet moulded on the hand over an 8 hour period the gloves deliver a sculptured aesthetic.
a pigmented wax has been applied to the leather that will evolve over time to reveal the black leather beneath.
each piece comes in a hand made leather package.
