the object dyed open seam shopper bag has been hand cut from a butter soft full grain 1.3mm vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled horse culatta leather with a visible layer of subdermal cordovan, in a crushed bone aniline dye treatment.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper.
vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
the bag has been object dyed with a watered down arcylic based paint in an array of ice grey nuances. overtime the grey will crack and dissipate revealing the crushed bone culatta beneath.
crafted from a split pattern construction the bag features an open seam construction running through the center of the bag with a tonal leather backing. hammered flat seams are visible to the interior, hand sewn with our signature overlock stitch in a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed Japanese linen thread over a 35 hour period without the use of machines.
the unlined interior features multiple patch pockets to accommodate a multitude of small accessories. deconstructed carry handles are fixed to the body with a 30cm drop allowing you to throw the bag on to your shoulder or hold by your side.
each piece comes in a hand made leather package.
