the handbag has been cut from a sturdy full grain 2.5mm vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled horse culatta leather with a visible layer of subdermal cordovan, and an aniline rotten corpse matte black dye treatment.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
crafted with a three piece pattern construction without the use of machines, the angular unlined bag is hand sewn with our signature overlocked sides in a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed Japanese linen thread over a 30 hour period.
our signature double iron lock key takes center stage for the closure and sits in juxtaposition to the deconstructed straps that echo the angular form of the bags body. a detachable leather coin pouch, crafted from a single piece pattern sits at the front of the bag and features a hand distressed swivel clip that connects to a custom 10 hour slow oxidised .925 sterling silver tab that can double as a key holder if the pouch is disconnected.
each piece comes in a hand made leather package.
