the card case has been hand cut from a butter soft full grain washed and tumbled 1.3mm vegetable tanned natural horse culatta leather. culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
the leather has been finished with a layered hand dye treatment using a mixture of slate and burnt orange to create the illusion of burnt copper, offering an array of rich nuances. a layer of waterproof liquid is applied to seal the dye and provide additional protection
crafted from a single piece pattern without the use of machines, the cardholder features two compartments with the ability to hold up to 16 cards in the landscape orientation, as well as folded notes. a hand waxed 0.65mm muted grey japanese linen thread has been used for the overlocked sides and the open seam construction to the rear interior pocket.
a custom .925 sterling silver buckle closure to the front has been slowly oxidised over a 10hr period and is fastened with a wrap around strap that has a space at the rear to attach to a belt loop or bag strap.
