the card case has been hand cut from a butter soft full grain washed and tumbled 2.6mm vegetable tanned natural reverse horse culatta leather with a rotten corpse matte black object dyed finish offering an array of tonal nuances.
culatta is a special cut combined of the rear just above the cordovan, the belly middles and the hind shanks, offering a dense structure, tight grain and medium to firm temper. vegetable tanning is a traditional method of treating the hide using natural extracts such as tree bark, for a truly artisanal finish.
vegetable tanned leather is an ancient artisanal process that hinges on the delicate balance between timing and temperature. like a fine aged whiskey time is key, the careful balance of time allows the natural tannins such as tree bark to infuse, yielding rich colours and unparalleled durability. controlled cooling plays a crucial role in achieving that coveted texture and suppleness you come to expect.
crafted from a single piece pattern without the use of machines, the cardholder features three compartments, one at the rear with our open seam construction and a secondary card slot behind the zipper pocket allowing you to hold up to 16 cards as well as folded notes.
the zipper pocket features a riri m4 10cm zipper with a hand made 10 hour slow oxidised .925 sterling silver zipper pull. a tonal hand waxed 0.65mm japanese linen thread has been used for the overlocked sides and the open seam construction to the rear interior pocket.
a custom .925 sterling silver buckle closure to the front has been slowly oxidised over a 10hr period and forms the closure for the leather strap. an oxidised .925 sterling silver staple takes center stage at the strap tip. the deconstructed flap is connected by our signature overlock stitch.
each piece comes in a handmade leather pouch.
