the wedge cardholder has been cut from a supple 2.7mm full grain vegetable tanned, washed and tumbled horse culatta leather, with a vast array of texture, a waxy pull up and a rotten corpse matte black dye treatment.
vegetable tanned leather is an ancient artisanal process that hinges on the delicate balance between timing and temperature. like a fine aged whiskey time is key, the careful balance of time allows the natural tannins such as tree bark to infuse, yielding rich colours and unparalleled durability. controlled cooling plays a crucial role in achieving that coveted texture and suppleness you come to expect.
crafted with a multiple piece pattern, with the intention of reducing waste from the off cuts in the atelier, the cardholder features 5 compartments with the ability to hold up to 16 cards as well as folded notes. each stitch hole has been individually spaced and punched by hand, with each overlock stitch meticulously implemented in a tonal 0.65mm hand waxed japanese linen thread without the use of machines.
the cardholder features a pigmented wax finish that has been applied to the leather in multiple layers. the wax will evolve over time to reveal the black leather beneath.
